Hi there, I’m Mel!
Or Melie, or Melissa – I answer to them all ?
I love stories: writing them, telling them, and reading them. In fact, stories are quite literally my life. I’ve spent several years writing and editing for businesses and authors. I’m also also an audiobook narrator, and I’m currently writing my first book.
Here’s the professional stuff or, my street cred: I have an MA in English with an emphasis in creative nonfiction, and a Masters in religious studies (emphasis in Biblical studies). I love Jesus and try to follow His example in my life.
I know we just met, but I’m in the middle of a divorce, and that’s relevant because I’m doing a lot of writing about divorce. I also write a lot about living in rebellion against the world, and what being a Christian woman today actually means.
So, yes, I love Jesus. Yes, I’m getting a divorce. No, those two things are not mutually exclusive. Mmm-kay?
As you can probably tell, I try not to take life too seriously, even in the midst of the biggest heartbreak I’ve ever experienced. However, I do take seriously the fact that God loves me and He loves you too.
I believe my story is just beginning, even though I’ve reached the midway point of this life. I’d love to have you journey with me through studying the Bible, telling stories that are hopefully relatable, dealing with divorce and beyond, and finding humor in this crazy thing we call life.
